The significant investments in Research Infrastructure (RI) on national and international scale put forward the question on effectiveness and sustainability of those previous and current capital expenditures. InRoad aims at contributing to a better harmonization and synchronization of priority-setting, funding and lifecycle management of RI through the exchange of good practices among the main stakeholders of EU Member States, Associated Countries and also at European level.
The 5 th upcoming InRoad Regional Workshop is devoted to the exploration of the case studies of selected RI and their approach to combine and manage the resources. For RI of pan-European relevance, design and preparatory phases can be funded through the EU Framework Programme (for the EU priority projects listed in the ESFRI roadmap), while construction remains a national prerogative, in Poland and few other EU countries, supported by structural funds. The Regional Workshop will give the opportunity to RI Managers to further discuss these issues during the roundtable discussion after the presentations of the selected case studies.
It is commonly agreed that there is an urgent need for better understanding how to efficiently fund pan-European RI, what are current policies for national and European funding and how these policies meet the needs of RI along their whole life cycle. The ultimate objective of the InRoad workshops is to produce recommendations on how to increase synchronisation and interoperability amongst RI funding instruments at European, national and regional levels and deliver them to the policy makers, who are working on the future programming of financing of the RI.
We cordially invite the managers of RI and other stakeholders for the 5 th InRoad’s Regional Workshop in Wroclaw (Wroclaw Research Centre EIT+), Poland, on 24 th – 25 th May 2018. Both the agenda of the event and registration is available on the In-road web.
